Club Women’s Creed
Keep us, O God from pettiness; Let us be large in word and in deed ^
Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking
May we put away pretense, and meet each other face to face without prejudice
May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us grow calm, serene, gentle,
Teach us to put in action our better impulse, straight forward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences in the big things in life, we are one ,
And may we strive to touch and to know the great common Woman’s heart of us all ,
And O Lord, let us not forget to be kind.
New Jersey State Federation Song
(Tune: “Love Devine, All Love Excelling”)
I
For the ultimate salvation
For the uplift of the throng
Comes New Jersey’s Federation
Formed of Women true and strong.
All around us, glowing, burning,
Flames this sign of racial need;
Silently and ever turning,
Waiting for our word and deed.
II
Out of bondage merely merging
To advance our greatest need;
Jersey women want no urging
Swift are they to do and lead
For better race we are yearning,
Strong in body, keen in mind,
With their souls flung wide to learning
And the good of all mankind.
III
We have caught the vision’s beauty,
We will make our dreams come true;
Dreams of ideal love and duty,
Dreams of womanhood made new.
To no compromise we’re yielding
In a purpose so sublime;
God the right is always shielding
While we ever higher climb.
